Course info
The GCSE course is suitable for students who have a limited experience of photography or those who wish to take up the subject without previous experience. Teaching will cover the use of 35mm photographic equipment, black and white film processing and printing techniques along with lighting and exposure techniques in our purpose-built photography studios. The course is predominantly practical. A range of assignments will develop basic photographic skills in composition, viewpoint, exposure, film speed, depth of field and darkroom practice. The aims of the course are to stimulate, encourage and develop photographic communication using appropriate materials and techniques. Research skills are developed together with a relevant working vocabulary, experimentation, observation, perception, imagination and technical control. You will be expected to spend time taking photographs outside of class time. The course aims to Develop intellectual, imaginative and creative power; Develop technical and expressive skills; Develop knowledge and understanding of the achievements of photographers past and present; Develop an understanding of the connections between photography and other aspects of art and design.

Equipment and Materials
If you do not possess a camera it is possible to loan camera equipment from the College though opportunities and time for this are limited. You will be expected to supply your own film and photographic paper.
